Freedom
Presented by : SALFORD MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY
This travelling exhibition of new work by refugee artists aims to highlight some of the issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers throughout 2007 and Spring 2008.
On display from 17th September to 11th November 2007 will be Freedom by Hilary Manuhwa, a Nigerian artist. This contemporary stone sculpture represents the theme of freedom and takes its inspiration from traditional West African forms. The work was created with a group of students from the Liverpool Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement service, as part of the Engaging Refugees and Asylum Seekers project: a partnership project between National Museums Liverpool, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Tyne and Wear Museums and Leicester City Museums Service.
This exhibition continues with other artworks until 16th March 2008
